Community Involvement
In addition to our committment to solar power, we are committed to contributing to our Sunshine Coast community. Several of our favourite community activities are:
Give Me 5 For Kids,
Community Box,
IGA Golf Day,
Rotary Golf Day,
Volunteering Car Parking for the SES,
Chamber of Commerce,
Belli Rural Fire Brigade,
Eumundi Historical Association,
Cleantech Industries Sunshine Coast,
Clean Energy Council, and
In 2011, we hosted the morning crew from 92.7 MixFM live from our showroom in Eumundi to raise funds for the 'Give Me 5 For Kids' charity day. The fundraiser provided an opportunity for the public to enjoy a free BBQ breakfast, Giveaways and a chance to win a 50" LG HD TV. The day proved to be a great success with over $10 000 raised, $2200 of which we'd like to thanks our suppliers for donating to see Jock Howard wear a wedding dress for the occasion! All money raised will support our local Hospital Children's Ward to buy much needed medical equipment that will assist in helping seriously ill children.

In 2009, we sponsored “The Bullets” team from the Noosa District State High School to compete in the “F1 in Schools” Compressed Air Car Challenge in London. This is an international event at which Australia has been represented since 2004. Teams of students from throughout the world design, manufacture, and race compressed air powered cars made from balsa wood under standardized conditions (pictured below).
Our team made three separate attempts at National Competition level of "F1 in Schools" and were rewarded for their efforts by being given the right to compete as a collaboration team along with two students from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate in Winnipeg, Canada. Despite the demands of preparing for this competition with team members from half way around the world, The Bullets, competing as AC Racing took first place from five other collaboration teams and placed third outright in the world. Well done to all involved!

The 15th Annual Sunshine Coast Environment Council Awards were a great success. With Diane and Jock at an interstate conference, Solar Power Specialists was represented by our Operations Manager, John Schimmel (seen on the right below). He was pleased to be able to present Cr Kerryn Jones and Dr Steve Skull of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council with an award for the Council's Climate Change and Peak Oil Strategy.
Solar Power Specialists were especially pleased to award Auzion with a "Highly Commended" for their Auzimax Energy Saver device.
